Details:
For many of us living with a neurological or chronic health condition, pain can be a frustrating and persistent part of our daily experience. Fortunately, we can use evidence-based tools and strategies to not only manage pain, but also to find a pathway forward toward a meaningful life, even in the presence of persisting pain.
Next week, we are running a Zoom seminar about chronic pain. During this session, we will hear from two health professionals — a specialist pain medicine physician and a clinical psychologist — to learn about chronic pain and how psychological input and strategies are helpful for managing pain. This session will give you a big-picture overview of the topic, and will lay the groundwork for future sessions.
What you will learn:
During this engaging seminar, you will learn about:
What chronic pain actually is
Why it's such a widespread, complex problem
The limitations of biomedical treatments
The role of allied health in chronic pain treatment
The value of psychological input
How chronic pain is "treatable" — just often not in the way people are expecting
During the presentation, we will have space for questions.
