Empowering people with neurological conditions to accomplish a meaningful adventure in New Zealand’s outdoors: bringing hope, strengthening connection, and creating lasting change.

Our programmes

Regardless of whether your goal is big or small, we are here to help you live well, get outdoors, and above all grow in hope.

Mastering Mountains’ programmes provide you with a place to belong and thrive. We offer mentoring and online community events, as well as a wellbeing curriculum and a comprehensive range of resources designed to empower you. Supported by expert guidance, our programmes help you build skills, agency, and capacity to achieve your personal goals.

We specialise in rehabilitation support and mentoring for people diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), or similar neurological conditions.

We are committed to helping as many people as we can. Click the link or scroll down to apply for partially or fully subsidised access to our programmes.

Access our programmes

We want to help as many people as we can. That’s why we offer both full and partial subsidies to make our programmes as accessible as possible.

Each year, we invite applications from New Zealand residents with a neurological diagnosis (with priority given to those with MS, FND, early-onset Parkinson’s, and fibromyalgia). This year, applications will be received between the 18th of May and June 30th. You can apply for access to any of our programmes during this period.

Sadly, we don’t have the funds to make our programmes free for everyone (as much as we wish we could!). As a result:

  • Each person’s programme package is individualised at the discretion of the Selection Panel.

  • The level of subsidy we give will be means-tested. For some, this might mean free access to a programme; for others, it might mean a generous discount.

  • Sometimes, we are not able to give access to the programme you’ve applied for. For example, if we don’t have the budget for your entry to the Rehabilitation Programme, we may offer you access to the Mentoring Programme instead.

Please email us if you have any questions.
